Are you trying to lose weight? There are many things that help weight loss besides a fad diet and exercising once in a while. It needs proper planning and a lot of determination. Here are a few easy steps to help you lose weight. 1. Start Your Day with Lemon Water Lemon water is an excellent drink for weight loss. Lemon juice helps your body get the nutrients it needs to burn fat into energy and stop weight gain. Make sure to keep drinking lemon juice even after you lose weight, to keep your new weight. 2. Take Apple Cider Vinegar Because apple cider vinegar has acetic acid, it’s good for losing weight. Acetic acid stops body fat from building up. Apple cider vinegar also helps your body take in nutrients from the food you eat, treats digestive issues, and fights infections. 3. Replace Your Regular Tea/ Coffee with Green Tea Another good idea for weight loss is to drink green tea. It has a big range of antioxidants that help the body break down foods, and help in losing weight. The catechins in green tea are very good for burning fat, because they free fat from fat cells. They also fight free radicals and stop diseases. Switch your regular cup of tea or coffee with a cup of organic green tea. You can drink 3 to 4 cups of green tea a day. 4. Exercise If you really want to lose weight in a healthy way, there’s no way to escape from regular exercise and activity. Doing a mix of mild and hard physical activity will help you lose weight, and control your weight. Also, exercise helps lessen stress and raise your energy, mood, and sleep quality. It lowers the risk of chronic diseases like Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, strokes, and some cancers. It’s best to set a certain time slot in your day for your exercise routine, so that you do not skip it because of the excuse that you don’t have enough time. 5. Eat a Healthy Diet A healthy and low calorie diet is a very important part of a good weight loss plan. Make sure to include fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains in your diet, instead of filling up on junk foods. Stay away from fried and fatty foods. Also, don’t take in too much sugar and salt. Look for healthier forms of your favorite foods. For example, eat homemade air- popped popcorn instead of high- calorie, oil- popped popcorn. Don’t eat things made with white flour like white bread, cookies, muffins, pizzas, hotdogs, burgers, pasta, and other foods like that. Choose whole grain and healthier forms of these foods. Their labels should say “100 percent whole grain”, not just “made with whole grains” or “multi- grain”. Eat more fiber and proteins, but less carbohydrates. Proteins will help you feel full for longer, and lessen cravings. Set aside one day a week for a cheat meal. Remember, it’s important not to eat too much. To get the most out of your cheat meal, eat it slowly and try to avoid disturbances while eating. Choose fresh fruit juice, instead of packaged fruit juices, which are full of sugar and preservatives. Use virgin coconut oil in your diet. It is easy to digest, good for your health, and also helps your body break down materials faster. Eat smaller meals, more often. 6. Drink Plenty of Water Drink a lot of water throughout the day to help your body wash out toxins. It is suggested to drink 8 to 10 glasses of fluids a day. Besides helping to clean out toxins, it makes the body burn fat faster. Also, eat more fruits and vegetables that are full of water. 7. Get Proper Sleep Getting proper sleep and relaxation is also very important for weight loss. In fact, not getting enough quality sleep affects your hunger and fullness hormones, negatively changes the way your body break down materials, and changes the way your genetics impact your body mass index (BMI). A lack of sleep makes you snack more late at night, makes you crave comfort foods, and leaves you too tired for regular physical exercise. Researchers at the Washington State University and Harvard have concluded that drinking wine actually makes you skinny. Why are you better of with a glass of wine instead of a glass of beer? Most beers contain anything between 13 and 20 grams of carbs but most wines contain a maximum of 5 grams. Dry wines have a maximum of TWO grams of carbs. So, there is no reason to feel guilty to have a glass of wine with a nice meal. Thanks to the special chemical called resveratrol. This chemical stops fat cells in the body from gaining more fat. Drinking two glasses of wine a day supposedly works to combat obesity by up to 70%. That is easily half a bottle a day! The University of Denmark also found that wine drinkers who drink every day have slimmer waistlines than those who only drink occasionally. But why drink wine at night? It turns out that the calories in wine help us stay full and, as a result, we don't indulge in nighttime snacking. Keep calm and drink wine!

Whey protein is actually a tremendous tool for those of you looking to lose weight. That’s why today, I am going to show you exactly how to use whey protein for weight loss. Here are the 7 best tips and steps for beginners. 1. Understand what whey protein actually is. Whey is the liquid part of milk that gets separated when cheese is made. If you’ve ever opened a yogurt container and have seen a watery substance at the top, this is whey protein. This liquid substance is what is turned into powder form to create whey protein. Just in case you’re wondering, this process also cuts out the 95% of the lactose so if you’re allergic to dairy, you really have nothing to fear. 2. Understand the different types of whey protein powder. There are three main forms of protein powder: whey concentrate, isolate, and hydrolestate. Concentrate is about 70-80% protein with some milk sugar and fat. Isolate is 90% protein and has a little less sugar and fat. Hydrolysate is also known as hydrolyzed whey, has virtually 0 sugar and fat, and is mixed with enzymes for the faster digestion into the blood stream. So, you may be wondering, does the type of protein matter? Not really. The minute differences between to two are not enough that it should cause you any stress or concern. Leave that sort of worrying for your overall diet and exercise routine. For what it’s worth, most of the studies are done using whey isolate and it’s what I use as well. 3. Understand why protein works so well for weight loss There are 3 reasons are particularly compelling… #1. It will keep you full. Protein can cut down sugar cravings by as much as 60%. #2. It’s easy. As long as you have a blender bottle on hand, all you need to do is add water. Which is great to have on the go or at work where eating healthy is more difficult. #3. It preserves lean muscle tissue when dropping weight. This ensures that when you do lose weight the majority of it is fat. We talk a lot about protein on this channel and this is just the short list of reasons why. 4. Whey protein has lots of other proven health benefits, which helps the body function better and makes weight loss easier. Things like: Improves muscle performance Lowers blood pressure Reduces symptoms of stress Helps you get in more water naturally And contains a small amount of antioxidants. Are additional reasons why whey protein is important and helpful for weight loss. 5. What are the best times to take whey protein? In order of importance. Take 30 minutes before or after your workouts. This has been shown to help with muscle development and recovery after a workout. Take 30 minutes before meals or dinning out. This will help you keep you from binge eating and give you more control over what you eat when out with friends or family members. Finally, you can use it as a healthy snack. Whenever my chocolate cravings hit mid day, I use it to get in my chocolate fix without all the sugar. 6. What should you mix it with? Water or unsweetened nut milks like cashew, almond, and coconut work best. Try to avoid using milk as it has a good amount of sugar. Other great places to use protein is in oatmeal, Greek yogurt, and smoothies for a flavor boost. This really adds a great taste to the otherwise bland healthy foods. 7. How much should you get in? How Fast Can You Lose Fat? (Backed by Science)

In this video I cover the science behind how fast can you lose fat and what amount of weight should you aim to lose per week. ►If you found this video helpful hit Subscribe to support the channel and share the video with your friends to spread the word◄ So how fast should you be aiming to lose fat? What's the recommended rate of weight loss per week on a diet? That number will depend on your initial body fat percentage. The more body fat you have the more of it your body can mobilize for energy. My recommendations for weekly weight loss targets based on initial BF % (Male lifters): 20% or Above = ~1-1.5% BW / Week 13 - 19% BF = ~0.7-1.2% BW / Week 10 - 13% BF= ~0.5-1% BW / Week Under 10% BF = ~0.5 BW / Week Note: The general rule is that if your goal is to lose 1 lbs / week you'd need a 3500 kcal weekly deficit which comes out at an average 500 kcal deficit per day. So if you're BW / Week target comes out at around 1 lbs of weight to lose start by setting up your caloric intake for 500 kcal below your maintenance caloric intake. Those targets will allow you to retain Lean Muscle Mass while at the same time maximizing fat loss. The reason I like to use ranges is because weight loss per week will vary a lot even after you average it out with multiple daily weigh-ins. If you're curious how to use the scale accurately check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNPe1qSsjoU Another great way to look at this is a calculation I got from Greg Nuckols (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ER0XQEWyqjo) He mentioned that the fastest rate of body weight loss per week you can lose without losing muscle would be your Body Fat Percentage divided by 20. So if you're 20% body fat you would aim to lose about 1% of your total BW per week. Greg's calculations are a bit more conservative than mine. There's a few research studies that have looked at this. One often cited from 2005 is the "A limit on the energy transfer rate from the human fat store in hypophagia." by Alpert SS http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15615615 Alpert based his findings on "The Biology of Human Starvation, Vols. 1 & 2" http://www.cabdirect.org/abstracts/19512901515.html;jsessionid=3ABDC4140B1E6012771EA38C93C5120D He theorized that there is a maximum amount of fat loss (caloric deficit) your body can endure, before it starts losing muscle. And he calculated this maximum caloric deficit to be at 31 kcal / lbs of body fat. Later the author revised this number from 31 to 22 kcal. The issue with this study is that the data he based his conclusion on was from the Minnesota Starvation Experiment, and uses subjects under severe dietary restriction that did not strength train. Additionally their protein intake was a lot lower than recommended during periods of caloric restriction. A more relevant study to look at would be Garthe 2011 - Effect of two different weight-loss rates on body composition and strength and power-related performance in elite athletes. http://ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21558571 This particular study looked at trained individuals with a sufficient protein intake. And they compared slow rates of weight loss vs fast rates of weight loss. The conclusion of the study lead to a general suggestion that athletes who want to potentially gain LBM and increase strength- and power-related performance during a weight-loss period combined with strength training should aim for a weekly weight loss of 0.7% of BW. And for athletes who only want to retain LBM and lose fat faster might increase their weekly weight-loss rate to 1.0–1.4% of BW. Of course no single study can ever give a full answer to the question but the recommendations you'll find at the beginning hold pretty well. I learned a lot through these comparisons so I'm pretty sure you're going to learn something new in this video. For the first comparison I compared the bioavailability of various different protein sources. Bioavailability is a representation of the percentage of just how much our bodies can make use of certain protein sources. Basically our bodies can use and absorb certain protein sources better than others. According to the bioavailability index we got whey protein at the top, followed by whole eggs, cows milk, egg whites, and fish. Now just because our bodies can absorb a lot of the protein from milk, assuming your not lactose intolerant that is, doesn't mean that milk is the solution to fat loss. This is just one very important comparison that has to be drawn because the best sources of protein for fat loss should also help you maintain muscle mass. Obviously it's going to be tough getting enough protein from peanuts because it's so low on the bioavailability scale. For the next comparison I wanted to see which protein sources spike insulin the highest. Yes protein can spike insulin levels in your body just like carbohydrates can. Most people don't know that protein is insulinogenic, but it is and some protein like whey protein can really spike your insulin pretty high. You may be wondering why is this important. Well it's important because the most significant factor in fat storage is the level of insulin in the blood. Insulin increases the storage of fat in fat cells and prevents fat cells from releasing fat for energy. There was a study done by David Mendosa, in which they tested 38 foods and found that glycemic and insulin scores were highly correlated. However whats interesting is that protein-rich foods and bakery products elicited insulin responses that were disproportionately higher than their glycemic responses. In case you don't know the glycemic index is a number associated with a particular type of food that indicates the food's effect on a person's blood glucose. So it makes sense that these two numbers would correlate because if something spikes your blood sugar you need a spike in insulin to bring the blood sugar levels back down. But certain protein sources seem to not have this correlation. This study found some foods such as meat, fish, and eggs that contain no carbohydrates, just protein and fat (and essentially have a Glycemic Index value of zero), still stimulate significant rises in blood insulin. The insulin index is a new area of study so this is not one that I have a direct answer to, but it's interesting to note that whey protein can spike your insulin levels very high. The insulin will funnel the blood sugar to the liver where it can be stored as fat. This doesn't mean that whey protein is awful for you when trying to lose weight, it just depends when you have it. If you have a random whey protein shake in the middle of the day or for breakfast it may not help you with weight loss, especially if you have it with fruit or milk. However, if you have that directly after a workout the insulin spike can help you funnel the glycogen to your muscles rather than ultimately ending up in your fat cells. For the last comparison, I compared the macronutrient splits in different sources of protein. This will help us see how much protein we are getting for a given amount of calories. Remember that insulin is what stores fat not fat. So just because we have fat that comes with a protein source doesn't mean that it's bad for fat loss. In fact fat is necessary to produce many of the important hormones that we need for optimal fat loss. I want to just compare a couple different sources of protein starting with chicken breast and cod fish. Chicken breast, cod, and other low fat fish is made up of 93% protein, 0% carbs, and 7% fat. Beans are made up of 25% Protein 72% carbs and 3% fat. Eggs are 29% Protein 2% carbs and 69% Fat. As you can see each of these sources that I picked leans more heavily toward one macronutrient than the rest. Cod and Chicken breast leans heavily toward the protein macro. Whole eggs are mostly made up of fat and beans are mostly made up of carbs. When looking at protein sources in this way you can say that beans are a good source of carbohydrates that are high in protein, but they mainly provide carbohydrates.

The answer is quite simple: The first step is to setup when the goal is weight loss is to enter a caloric deficit through your diet. That means you need to be consuming less calories from food / drinks than your body need to maintain it's current weight. This forces your body to burn fat stores for energy. You can calculate your caloric intake using these methods: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7x5zzMGFr8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8nKEwrN9I0 And the second step is to provide your body with an adequate amount of protein. About 1 gram of protein per LBS of ideal weight is a good goal for your daily protein intake. Setup your protein intake like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIFRY_--YuU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-OVCYPWj3U Now on top of that you want to make sure that you're getting an adequate amount of sleep. 8 - 9 hours is of sleep recommended, and this is even more important if you're not performing any exercise. Adequate sleep will help you lose more fat while holding on to lean muscle as much as possible. And holding onto muscle will be harder since there's no resistance training. This means that you want to pick foods you can stick to for the long run while still being in that caloric deficit and getting your protein intake. Whether you decide to go higher carbohydrate, lower carbohydrate, paleo, keto, vegetarian, Mediterranean diet or vegan it won't matter at the end of the day as long as you're in a caloric deficit and you meet your protein needs while at the same basing your 80-90% on whole healthy unprocessed foods. Now, what happens when you try to lose weight (fat) without exercise. Here's a few things: - You don't build muscle and you'll most likely also lose muscle. This means even if you do lose a bunch of weight you probably won't end up with a great looking physique. - Have to eat less than if you were exercising. If you're mainly a sedentary individual with a classic 9-5 desk job your energy expenditure is generally quite low. Once you take our exercise out of the equation your caloric intake will typically need to be quite low to put you in a deficit. This makes the diet very hard to sustain because you'll feel a lot more hunger and won't get to eat a lot of food. - Getting a six pack is pretty much mission impossible. Unless you're extremely naturally gifted somehow to have a fairly decent amount of muscle mass and great genetics when it comes to fat loss you won't be seeing those shredded looking abs. - Have increased hunger cravings. Science is pretty clear on this, both cardio and weightlifting can suppress appetite. And visceral fat has been implicated as a primary risk factor for chronic disease. One last point I wanna add is that gym isn't the only type of activity you can do. There's many different types of exercise and the key is to find something that you enjoy. Water weight alone can be affected due to eating, drinking, using the bathroom, and exercising. That's not even mentioning the effect that exercise has on your muscles over time. The longer you exercise correctly the more muscle you'll put on, which could increase your weight as well. Beginners are usually the ones that gain muscle the fastest believe it or not, which means if you haven't consistently exercised before you will likely gain some weight on the scale pretty fast. So my point is that you can weigh yourself, but I don't recommend doing it everyday and I don't recommend basing all your progress on your scale. always remember that the goal that you actually have is to lose body fat not necessarily weight. Your goal needs to be aligned with changing your body composition rather than just losing weight. Lets define that real quick, body composition is used to describe the percentages of fat, bone, water and muscle in your body. We want to effect body composition in a way that causes us to have a higher percentage of muscle and a lower percentage of fat. So try to fit into smaller size clothes and if possible take circumference measurements with a tape measure to help you measure your progress a lot more accurately. Okay now that we've established that super fast weight loss is no good and we know the goal is to burn body fat let's get to step one for transforming your body at home. Step one is to make it through the first 3 days. And these first three days is pretty much the topic of part 1 of this video series. That's how important the first 3 days are. If you've been eating like most Americans then you've been eating a lot of sugar, artificial additives, flavor enhancers, high fructose corn syrup, and a bunch of other highly addictive ingredients. Multiple studies have shown that this stuff is actually addicting and it triggers reward centers in our brain to fire. In the same way that drug addicts feel a reward from drugs, food addicts feel the same from food. Guys this stuff is actually addicting and chances are that you're one of the people that are addicted. The majority of the food at the supermarket has these additives to get you hooked so you buy more. Because this food is so enhanced it makes real food not as stimulating.
