In this video, I share with you a three phase plan for losing fat in the abdomen, love handles or waistline area, and the chest. These spots are where most men carry their fat and are the last to lose it when dieting or trying to cut down. The reason for this is actually based on our genetics, but it doesn’t mean that we cannot do something about it. Before we get started however, here is a list of the videos that I referenced in the video for you to watch: How to Stretch Your Chest - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SV7l1sfEmO0 The 7 Minute Ab Workout - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jyhJ6TiUPA Lose the Love Handles - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWjf2io_b6E The first thing you have to realize is that all three of these areas share the common problem in that they look bad mostly because of the abundance of body fat. You may even have developed muscles underneath, but as long as the fat is present you will never get a chance to see what it looks like. This means that your priority has to be on cleaning up your nutrition. If you refuse to eat better, no matter what else you do, you will never look better. Early on however, you don’t have to get too specific with your eating. Simply make a pass through your diet and get rid of the obvious garbage that you know is not helping your cause. Sweets, excessive alcohol, sugars, etc can all be removed and replaced with more nutritious foods. You don’t have to necessarily worry about your macros at this point but just getting rid of the junk food and liquid calories. Realizing that it will take some time to see the results of these changes however, you should start chipping away at the trouble spots in another way. For the abdomen, you want to first ensure that you can properly activate the muscles in the rectus and transverse abdominis. Most find this difficult and even when they do perform ab exercises they get frustrated at not being able to feel them. Next, you want to start adding in ab training but mostly in the form of rotational ab exercises. Instead of trying to do crunches and having the fat get in the way of the movement, you can work your abs without having to crunch. Finally, you want to incorporate moves for your entire core, such as with the 7 minute ab workout included above. When it comes to the love handles, you want to start by working the lats. Here especially, you want to focus on full contractions and range of motion to ensure proper development of the muscles that actually insert onto the top of the pelvis near your waistline. The more you can build these muscles the greater the visual differential between your waist and your shoulders and the better the v taper. Next add in direct ab work and finish up with direct oblique training for the best look as your diet gets dialed in. Finally, for the chest you want to stretch it and strengthen the muscles of the rotator cuff to posturally improve the visual appearance of your chest. From here, work the serratus anterior. This will give your chest more natural underlying support will helping to visually chisel out the area underneath. Finally, you want to make sure that as your body fat levels decrease and fat loss continues that you are working your chest in all three heads. Use the angles of the band work as an example of how to hit the upper, lower and middle chest. In this video, I’m going to show you how the mentality of a “cheat meal” is what may be single handedly responsible for keeping you from losing weight and keeping it off forever. To start, the mentality of cheat meals means that you are splurging or indulging. You are enjoying something that you aren’t capable of experiencing or having during your non-cheating periods. When the regular, every day foods and diet you follow cause you to have a clear dichotomy between foods you actually enjoy and those you only eat because you feel like you are supposed to be eating them, then you are setting yourself up for failure. If on the other hand, you were able to identify foods that you actually enjoyed that were still nutritious and in line with your goals of losing weight, body fat and building muscle then you would be on the way to nutritional freedom and permanent weight loss. Too many people think that the only way to lose weight and have abs is to eat steamed broccoli, dry asparagus and iceberg lettuce. That couldn’t be further from the truth. The best way to lose weight is to start looking at food as fuel for your muscles and your performance and stop hating the limited food choices you have left yourself. The avoidance of carbs, fats and even some proteins in the pursuit of six pack abs is a mistake. Rice, pasta, potatoes, butter and oils can all be (and should be) part of a nutrition plan that is capable of helping you lose weight and put on lean muscle mass. If you fall victim to the carb phobia that is far too rampant these days then you are likely to be robbing your muscles of the exact nutrients they need to perform at their best. Beyond that, it is these very foods that tend to help us maintain our sanity when changing our eating lifestyle. If you completely eliminate starchy carbohydrates from your diet then you are going to quickly fall off of your eating plan. Carbs and fats are preferred energy sources for our bodies and avoiding them for any length of time in the pursuit of fast fat loss is a recipe for failure. When you incorporate these back into your eating plan, you will suddenly find that the choice to have something like carrot cake, beer or even cupcakes is something that you are making because you wanted them not because your body felt as if it needed them! There is a huge difference between the two. Once you string together a period of time that you are doing this your results become self motivating and you will find that you make less choices for “cheat meals” and more decisions are made to continue eating your nutritious food choices since you prefer them and actually enjoy them. This is the best way to lose weight long term because you aren’t basing your attempt on deprivation or diets. This way works regardless of the way you are eating now. Even if you are using intermittent fasting as your method of eating at the moment, the principles are still the same and will help you to lose weight forever. You know it is time for a change. PAUSE But, what do you do? Well if you're anything like I was at 215 pounds, you throw in that overly drenched towel of disappointment and frustration and go right back to normal, the way you are now, Pause overweight and completely drained. It just seems easier. See I've been there. I've started so many diets that I was to suddenly supposed to change everything, especially the food that I ate. I was expected to put down the cheesecake and pick up the rice cake. Seriously do you know how many points are in cheesecake? I was expected to eat like a rabbit overnight. And that just didn't work for me. Guess what, I really got sick and tired of feeling deprived, feeling hungry. So I gave up, so many times I cannot even count. Here's the thing I figured out, diets TOTALLY set you up for failure. Diets are too restrictive, making you give up everything at one time, diets are just too much work. But what if there were a way to stop dieting, but instead start That's what I did 7 years ago, I made little changes. I started just eating a salad with lunch and dinner. I started just NOT eating about 20% of what was on my plate. Little things. And it worked! My friends started asking me why I was smiling more. Why i was being nicer to everyone around me, because TRUST ME I was not nice. People started to notice how I looked. I started to get compliments and questions They would ask me HOW are you doing this? How are you losing weight and getting HAPPIER rather than just more frustrated and angry. After I lost 100 pounds, not only did I feel better, I won a fitness competition and met the man of my dreams. That is why I decided to create my OWN program to help YOU do the same.
