According to the National Institute of Health, it scored a 3.3 out of 5 in the “Weight Loss Effectiveness” category and 4.5 out of 5 in “Health Usefulness”. Out of 40 diets evaluated, it was chosen number one! So who is this all-star? It’s something called the DASH diet. The DASH diet is an easy, safe, and useful plan that can help you feel better and get rid of excess weight. You can lose weight gradually, no starving or yo-yo dieting. It won’t shock or stress your body out. DASH stands for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension. It’s a diet developed specifically to reduce blood pressure in those with hypertension. But scientists understood later on that this diet resolves tons of other health issues. It reduces cholesterol, prevents stroke and heart failure, and brings the weight down to a healthy level, even for those with obesity. Plus, it’s considered the best diet to prevent diabetes. Besides controlling blood pressure, people following it managed to improve insulin resistance. What’s convenient about this diet is that you don't have to calculate and monitor each nutrient: you just need to reduce your salt intake and eat certain recommended foods, for instance, fruits, vegetables, grains, protein-rich foods, and dairy products. Compared to trendy crash diets, DASH is different. This is a complete lifestyle change. It’s for people who need to take care of their eating habits throughout their lives. Since there's no way to Target the fat burn just from our belly area we have to burn fat from our whole body to tap into the fat stores around our midsection. And although exercise can increase the amount of calories that we burn and help us burn a little more fat the main driver of fat loss is going to be diet. So I want to give you guys the best 3 diet approaches too easily burn fat fast. As you burn fat from your whole body you'll definitely notice a difference around your waist and like I said these diet approaches are very effective for seeing results within a few days. 2 effectively burn fat we can't just concentrate on calories in and calories out. Insulin is a fat storage hormone and it is directly linked too fat loss. If you want to burn fat the fastest way to do it is by controlling and lowering your insulin levels. Insulin is released to control your blood sugar by shuttling glucose into your muscles and your liver to be used for energy. When your insulin levels are hi your body cannot burn fat. In fact It has no need to burn fat because your body can get plenty of energy from the glucose thats in your bloodstream that triggered the insulin to be released to begin with. The worst part is that not only does insulin block fat loss but it also causes the body to store excess glucose as fat. However all hope is not lost you have another hormone known as glucagon that pretty much has the inverse function. After depleting stored glucose from your muscles and from your liver your blood sugar will begin to drop. When your blood sugar drops too low glucagon can actually raise your blood sugar by converting glycerol in your fat cells into glucose for fuel. Glucagon also signals the fat cells to release free fatty acids in a process known as lipolysis. To put it simply glucagon signals the body to release stored fat to be used as fuel. There are many studies that compare the effects of these two hormones insulin and glucagon. But my favorite is one of the simplest where a group of researchers studied the effects of these two hormones on rats. The study was published in the Journal of Comparative and Physiological Psychology In this study half of the rats where injected with insulin and the other half were injected with glucagon. The rats that received the insulin gained body fat and ate more. The rats that received the glucagon lost body fat. Now nobody's going to be injecting you with glucagon but there are ways that you could naturally lower your insulin levels and increase your glucagon levels through diet. And these 3 diets that I'm about to go over do exactly that in the most effective way. As long as blood sugar is available your body will preferentially burn that for fuel over fat. So what is the best way to lower blood sugar in the shortest amount of time? The answer is our first dye method that we're going to go over and that's fasting. There is no better way to lower insulin levels and lower blood sugar levels then not eating at all. Now I'm not advocating for you to starve because that usually leads to a binge which leads to a very high spike in blood sugar and insulin storing any kind of fat that you might have lost right back if not more. But I do highly recommend that you try a couple simple fasting approaches such as intermittent fasting which involves a 16 hour fast followed by an 8 Hour feeding window. A little bit of a more advanced version of fasting would be a 20-hour fast followed by a four hour feeding period this is typically referred to as The Warrior Diet. And even more advanced than that would be the one meal a day diet where you would fast for the entire day and only eat one meal. After that comes your longer-duration fasts where you don't eat anyting for 2 to 7 days. Although I don't recommend these for beginners fasting for longer durations is scientifically proven to be the most effective way to lower blood sugar and insulin levels while simultaneously increasing glucagon levels. Meaning there is no other diet approach out there that will lower your insulin and burn fat quite as much as fasting. And this makes perfect sense because even protein can be converted into glucose and can spike your insulin. But if you eat nothing at all the only thing that your body has to work off of for energy after depleting your liver and your muscles of glycogen is stored energy in the form of fat. Again don't worry if you're not willing to not eat for 7 days that's something that I only recommend to people that have a lot of experience

Hey guys! I am back with the next installment of my diet review series. This week I am covering the incredibly popular ketogenic diet. Within the last year or two, the keto diet has soared in popularity and I can understand why. It is a simple diet where counting calories isn't important (who wants to count calories) and you get to eat a bunch of really delicious foods. If you are curious, the name of the diet comes from the ketone bodies produced within your body as a result of switching your body to fuel itself through fats instead of carbs. This is also referred to as a state of ketosis. But I want to give you an honest doctor's take on the keto diet, which is essentially a high fat low carb diet. Its claim to fame is that helps to burn body fat for energy, therefore helping you lose weight quickly. But is fast weight loss even healthy? + Is this the best weight loss diet? Anyway, I could go into more detail covering the smallest intricacies of the diet but I did not want to weigh down the video, both literally and figuratively. Please let me know if this is too little, too much, or just the right amount of information about intermittent fasting. Also, I want you to remember that diets are not all about weight loss but more importantly about eating healthy. It's claim to fame is that helps burn belly fat/ lose your belly and it does so through fast weight loss. But is fast weight loss even healthy? While it is low in calories, it provides you with the energy you need to have a productive day since it includes healthy fats, carbohydrates, and protein. TIMESTAMPS How does it work? 1:15 Day 1 1:46 Day 2 2:42 Day 3 3:40 Additional tips 4:46 SUMMARY -By decreasing your calorie intake over a short period, your body will burn more fat and, as a result, you’ll lose weight effortlessly. -Start your day with a cup of coffee or tea, a toast with peanut butter and half a grapefruit. Have a cup of hot coffee or tea with a slice of toast and half a cup of tuna for lunch. For dinner you should have about 85 grams of any meat, one cup of green beans, half a banana, and one small apple. You can also treat yourself with one cup of vanilla ice cream. -Your breakfast on the second day of the diet will consist of one slice of toast, one hard-boiled egg, and half a banana. When it's time for lunch, eat one more hard-boiled egg, five saltine crackers, and one cup of cottage cheese. Your final meal for the day should include two hotdogs, a cup of carrots, a cup of broccoli, and half a banana. You are allowed to have 1/2 cup of vanilla ice cream again. -The third and final day of your strict diet plan starts with five saltine crackers, a slice of cheddar cheese, and one small apple. Your lunch will consist of just a slice of wholegrain toast and one egg. It was made popular by celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson and Jennifer Aniston has been rumored to be a proponent of the fad diet. Like a lot of fad diets, the baby food diet will have you taking in a dangerously low amount of calories that you will most likely gain back when you are off of the diet. While it may be a good way to lose weight in the short term, it is probably not the healthiest option long term if you are trying to maintain good health. 6. Raw Food Diet Eating more raw fruits and vegetables and reducing junk food is a safe and effective way to lose weight. The raw food diet promotes these ideals, but takes things a few steps further. It bans foods that have been cooked or processed in any way. Proponents say that cooking destroys nutrients, which is true in a lot of cases. But cooked veggies still have plenty of nutrients and those nutrients are actually enhanced when some vegetables are cooked, not to mention the fact that cooking food destroys bacteria. This diet has good aspects and taking parts of it and including it in your own health regimen can be beneficial but going all out and only eating raw foods seems somewhat inconceivable for any significant amount of time. 5. The Lunar Diet Also called the werewolf diet, the main rule of this diet is that you have to fast during the full moon and new moon phases. The theory is that the moon exerts the same influence over the water in your body as it does on the waters of the ocean. Therefore if you fast according to the moon cycles, your body theoretically would respond by powerfully flushing excess water and toxins from your body. Thanks to this you can lose up to 6 pounds of water weight in a single night. While celebrities including Demi Moore and Madonna have endorsed the diet, many experts have dismissed it as a fad diet, pointing out that the diet hasn’t been scientifically proven to work in the long term. 4. Tongue Patch Diet Oh the things that people do for their image. This weight loss diet is amazing in that people are actually doing it. The patch that they use is plastic mesh meant for hernia repairs and it is sewn onto your tongue, making it next to impossible and very painful to eat solid food. The patch and procedure normally cost $2,000 dollars and it stays in your mouth for one month. The procedure has been pioneered in the states by a cosmetic surgeon in southern California and has, of course, been a very polarizing topic in the medical world. 3. The Tapeworm Diet Before modern times human bodies were most likely riddled with a variety of worms. There are those out there that believe that humans have not evolved to the point where our bodies are accustomed to being worm free. In theory our body is looking for these worms and this creates an immune system imbalance. Not only will introducing a tapeworm to your body help keep your immune system in balance but it will help you lose weight as the tapeworm will feed on the foods that you eat. If you think this is an insane idea, than your right it is. No one out there should ever try this. 2. The Cotton Ball Diet There are so many problems with this diet that it is a wonder how it is even discussed or considered as a conceivable diet. It involves eating up to 5 cotton balls dipped in orange juice or lemonade in one sitting. It is supposed to trick you into feeling full without the weight gain that normal food brings. So where do I start? For one, most cotton balls are actually made of polyester, meaning that eating your shirt would essentially be the same thing as eating a cotton ball. Also, they could cause an obstruction of the intestinal tract, which could be life threatening. Basically nothing good could ever come from trying this diet and, to be frank, if you did mess your body up while trying this diet you would deserve it. 1. The Cigarette Diet With the knowledge we have about the dangers of smoking cigarettes it seems pretty funny that Lucky Strike had an ad campaign in the 1920’s with the slogan “Reach for a Lucky instead of a sweet.” They were attempting to entice people to smoke instead of consuming extra calories. The campaign ended up working as their sales were boosted and their campaign was copied by all of the other big cigarette companies. Thankfully as research was done and the true effects of cigarette smoking became common knowledge this diet became obsolete, though there is no doubt that the appetite curbing nature of nicotine is still taken advantage of by those desperate to lose a quick pound or two.
